For the first participation of a team from Ukraine in eight years – this year MSS Vyshgorod near the capital Kyiv is coming to the 32nd Int. Schmelz Youth Handball Tournament – there is special support from the church-catholic side in addition to the costs covered by the organizing club WAT Fünfhaus. As several times in the past, the parish Akkonplatz in the 15th district, very close to the tournament center at the University Sports Center on the Schmelz, will be the accommodation for the travel group of nearly two dozen people from Vyshgorod. The Ukrainian team can also stay there a bit longer.

This would not be possible, however, without the support of Caritas Vienna. They are providing a total of 22 summer sleeping bags from the logistics warehouse in the 22nd district, so the group from Vyshgorod does not have to worry about how to spend the night. This is intended to offer the young handball players and companions from the Ukraine, devastated by Russian attacks, a pleasant stay in Vienna to somewhat push aside the harrowing everyday life in their homeland.
