Every year, it is a wonderful addition to the international Schmelz tournament. As part of the finals day on Sunday, August 30, there will once again be a morning match featuring the Handball Specials, an inspiring group of athletes with disabilities who love the sport. This match will take place between the four youth finals. The MGA Specials from Vienna-Margareten are set to face off against a selection from the host club, WAT Fünfhaus.

The joy of the Handball Specials players is palpable every single time. The passion they bring to the court consistently delights the spectators attending the finals of the Schmelz tournament, which begin at 9:00 a.m. this Sunday at the Wiener Stadthalle B. Before and after the Handball Specials match, the final games for the girls’ and boys’ teams in the 2012 and 2010 age categories will take place in the Wiener Stadthalle B. The finals for the 2014 age category for both girls and boys are scheduled for late Saturday afternoon, August 29, at Schmelz.

The total number of participating teams at this year’s 33rd International Schmelz Youth Handball Tournament has increased once again, reaching a total of 55 girls’ and boys’ teams. Twenty-one of these teams are traveling from abroad. Six nations are participating in this year’s Schmelz tournament from August 28 to 30: Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Lithuania, and Austria.
