The start of the 33rd International Schmelz Youth Tournament in Vienna’s 15th district is fast approaching. The WAT Fünfhaus organizing team is currently preparing all signs and information to ensure that the 55 participating girls’ and boys’ teams, both domestic and international, can find their way around the courts, the buffet, and the main organizing office at the university center on the Schmelz as quickly and easily as possible. This also applies to the travel arrangements, particularly the U-Bahn line 6 connection between the courts on the Schmelz and the GRG 23, which serves as accommodation for the international teams.
Former WAT Fünfhaus chairman Florian Bohata has taken over control and coordination at the accommodation in the GRG 23. Together with Michael Kilzer, who will welcome the arriving teams in the foyer of the GRG 23, he is awaiting the girls’ and boys’ teams that are set to arrive on Thursday. The first teams are expected to arrive on Thursday afternoon.
To give an idea of the scale, around 600 young handball talents from six different nations are expected to attend. In addition to these players, there will be numerous coaches and support staff. This highlights once again that WAT Fünfhaus, led by tournament director Christoph Zeiml and supported by 100 volunteers, is hosting the largest youth tournament in Austria again this year. The matches will take place from Friday, August 28, through Sunday, August 30.
