As the organizer of the International Schmelz Youth Handball Tournament, WAT Fünfhaus can count on the full support of Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, Vienna’s 15th district. This was emphasized by Dietmar Baurecht, head of district council of the 15th Vienna district, not only during a meeting with the tournament’s organizing director and Fünfhaus-Minis coach Christoph Zeiml, but also visibly by his choice of attire. He wore a tournament T-shirt highlighting the 33rd edition of Austria’s largest youth handball tournament, which will take place from August 28th to 30th of this year.

For Dietmar Baurecht, the concerns of the residents and the development of the 15th district naturally take center stage. However, in a district like Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, where people from many different nations live together, openness and internationality are also vital. The International Schmelz Youth Handball Tournament perfectly embodies these values. In recent years, more than 90 boys’ and girls’ teams from up to 13 nations have visited the cosmopolitan city of Vienna and the district of Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus. For a few days, the 15th district becomes a melting pot for young, curious, and ambitious handball talents, serving as a hub for connection, new friendships, and joy of life alongside the athletic competition. This is why Dietmar Baurecht has gladly supported the International Schmelz Tournament for years, organized by WAT Fünfhaus, the handball club with heart in the center of the district.
More than 30 boys’ and girls’ teams from Germany, the Czech Republic, Croatia, and Austria have already registered for the 33rd edition of the Schmelz tournament this year. There should be and will be even more, as the registration deadline remains open until June 26, 2026.
Welcome to Vienna! Willkommen in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus!
